Packing List
Clothing
- Shorts
- Shirts (both short-sleeved and long-sleeved)
- Swimsuit
- Sleep clothes
- Athletic shoes
- Shoes for hiking – a good pair of trail running shoes is best (these have a rock plate), or a pair of hiking shoes or boots
- Long pants/Jeans
- Casual dress clothes (for the banquet)
- Light jacket or sweatshirt (the evenings and mornings get chilly!)
- Rain jacket or poncho
Personal Items
- Bible (or Bible app) and Pen/Pencil
- Musical instrument (students can sign up to be part of the worship team or participate in the talent show!)
- Toiletries
- Spending money for snacks, gift shop, meals on the road.
Recreational Items
- Water bottle!! a sturdy one. If you are going hiking you will not be allowed to go without at least one, preferably two water bottles.
- Flashlight
- Hat (wide brim is nice for Sand Dunes)
- Sunscreen
- Sunglasses
Personal First-Aid Kit
- adhesive bandages of various sizes (6 or so)
- 2 sterile, 3×3 gauze pads
- small roll of adhesive tape
- moleskin (used for keeping hot spots on your feet from becoming blisters)
- alcohol wipes or alcohol-based sanitizing gel
- antibiotic ointment
- disposable nonlatex gloves
- Other things you may want to include
- Ace bandage
- hydrocortisone cream
If you are going rafting:
- Restraining strap for your sunglasses, preferably the kind that floats
- Water shoes
If you are going hiking:
- Daypack (please no string bags)
- Non-cotton pants and a long sleeve, non-cotton moisture wicking shirt
- Rain jacket (not one of those throwaway ponchos)
- Layers (it can get cold at high altitudes even in June)
- Shoes for hiking – trail runners, low-quarter hiking shoes or hiking boots
- Non-cotton hiking socks. Wool or wool-blend are best.
- 2 water bottles (at least 2 liters)
- Water filter like Sawyer Squeeze or Lifestraw (we’ll have these if you don’t)
- Bug spray
- Personal First-Aid Kit (see above) with Moleskin for blisters
- Snacks or energy bars to supplement your sack lunch
- Toilet paper and a latrine trowel
- Flashlight
- Whistle
- Hiking Poles (optional)
