YXL Non-Discrimination Policy

Youth Excelling in Leadership (YXL) is a ministry of University Presbyterian Church in Las Cruces, New Mexico. UPC is a part of the Presbyterian Church in America and operates according to the PCA’s Book of Church Order.

Participants

YXL accepts participants of any race, color, national origin, sex, or ability to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to participants. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, or sex, in the administration of its policies or programs. It does not discriminate on the basis of ability, except when a disability or special need poses a safety hazard to staff and/or other youth. YXL’s stated mission is to help Christians ages 15-18 develop their gifts as leaders as they follow Christ. We require that each participant has made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ as their savior, is striving to live in submission to Jesus Christ, and has received an endorsement from a pastor to attend the conference. As a religious organization, YXL is permitted under Title VII to discriminate based on religious views.

Volunteers (Leaders, Speakers and Counselors)

Speakers, leaders, administrators and counselors at YXL are all volunteers. Volunteer roles with YXL are open to qualified individuals who are Christians of good character, without regard or reference to race, gender, national or ethnic origin, color, age, or disability. YXL is a religious ministry, permitted under Title VII to discriminate based on religious views. All prospective and current volunteers must support the vision, values and theology of University Presbyterian Church.
